Why haven’t you been fired?

Good question to ANSWER if your inner-critic is going wild.  

Because…. genuinely, if: 

• you make mistakes; and 
• you’re not as good as ‘them’; and
• you have knowledge gaps,

… why HAVEN’T you been fired? 

Could it be that they haven’t noticed, or perhaps they don’t care about client outcomes or business profitability, or perhaps they’re just stupid…

Probably not. 

I ask the question because it forces us to find a LOGICAL explanation. Our inner critic is NOT logical. We can’t let it run the show unsupervised. 

So, answer the question. Could it be true that: 

• you create economic value EVEN THOUGH you also make mistakes and have knowledge gaps and aren’t as good as them (whatever that means)?
• the business model of a profitable firm FACTORS-IN learning and mistakes and development of knowledge and experience? 

I don’t know, but that seems more logical. 

The point I’m trying to make is that your inner-critic is VERY dramatic. It’s not going through a logical process. We need your lawyer-brain for that. 

So don’t just ask the question, answer it.
